Sony conducted its PlayStation Meeting yesterday to talk about its refreshed products.
Unlike the PlayStation 4 Pro, which supports 4K gaming, the slim PlayStation 4 will only support HDR gaming for those that have HDR-capable televisions. The big change is with the Playstation 4 Pro console which according to Sony is the competitor to Microsoft’s Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio consoles.
The PS4 Pro will be available from 10th November at the price point of £349.
At the keynote event in New York City on Wednesday, Sony spent far more time showing off 4K games than it did actually discussing what the PS4 Pro could do, so we’ve chose to collect every piece of information we could find about the high-end console and wrap it all into a convenient bullet point list.
Up until now, we’ve seen it as a software post-process upscale, but in actual fact, it’s one of a number of new custom features backed into the PS4 Pro’s GPU and as such comes with zero cost to game developers.
The console was created to complement the PS4 and it has the “4” in its name to show that the two versions are related.
Stay still, people. You can’t buy this yet, and anyway there is still more for you to know.
The new PlayStation units follow the release of a smaller version of Microsoft’s Xbox One in June. In this case, an Uncharted 4 Playstation 4 Slim bundle, which includes the critically acclaimed final entry in Naughty Dog‘s Uncharted series.
The Elder Scrolls Online will run at a native 4K resolution on PS4 Pro, Bethesda has announced. Sony also says that the volume has been reduced by as much as 30 percent and weighs around 16 and 25 percent less than its predecessor.

Yes! The optical audio output has been removed from the PS4 Slim though, which is a massive shame.
