But that strategy has some risks.
With the AirPods still in their case, we started playing a song through the iPhone speakers. (There is apparently a way to play, pause, or skip tracks by tapping the earbuds, triggering the accelerometers inside.) AirPods also don’t have noise cancellation or audio passthrough, features that can be found on wireless earbuds like several other models now being sold at JB Hi Fi. If they live up to Apple’s claims, they’re a technological marvel, tiny and expensive.
Apple says that it won’t disclose sales because its distribution network is expanding, and the total number of phones sold will reflect supply rather than demand. Or as Bob O’Donnell, a veteran consumer tech analyst at Technalysis Research, puts it: “You start losing those things at $160 a pair, you’re going to go insane”. And so I bring you the specs of the Apple AirPods, the first pair of truly wireless earbuds.
Some early reviewers are already captivated by the AirPod.
Because Apple thinks it’s fearless.
As they try to assess whether the iPhone has reached a plateau, investors will not be happy about losing a data point, said Colin Gillis, an analyst with BGC Partners.
Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus launch: All your questions answered from India launch date to pricing. But Apple has never been shy about marketing its products at a premium price. Apple rolled out several latest-generation products at a widely anticipated media event yesterday aimed at reviving growth at the tech giant, the world’s most valuable company. Also, the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera set-up which makes it look different in the rear. The downside is you don’t own your phone, but the upside is you get a new phone each year.

Other smartphone makers are also having trouble dazzling consumers with new advances. Julie Ask, principal analyst at Forrester Research, said waterproofing “is one of the features that we’ve been missing from these watches”. And she’s not anxious about any backlash over elimination of the hardware jack. “Three months later, it will be, ‘Why did we ever have that?”‘
