“Whoever tries to belittle the issue will do an injustice to the poor villagers”.

There was unprecedented ruckus and commotion at the ground in Deoria, where the rally was held, after which people started fighting over the cots to take them home. Gandhi will cover almost 233 consistency during the road show.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday responded to the incident on Tuesday when people who attended his “khat sabha” in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, later ran away with two thousands that were used in the meeting.

Through out the stay, the Congress Vice President attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged anti-people policies.

Seeking to strengthen the party’s base in Uttar Pradesh ahead of next year’s Assembly election, Gandhi kicked off a month-long “mahayatra” during which he would traverse 2,500 kms across the state to hear out the farmers and give voice to them in highlighting their plight.

Accompanied by party colleague and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, the 46-year-old Congress leader visited houses of farmers and collected “Kisan Mangpatras” (charters of farmers demands) and interacted with them one-to-one as part of his “Khaat Sabha”.

Swamy told ANI that the media should not bother about Gandhi as he is not a serious politician.

Mr Gandhi’s comeback today drove his party’s allegation that the government at the centre has surrendered the needs and rights of farmers for big corporates. He also referred to land deals involving Robert Vadra.

“The main objective is debt removal of the farmers as the government has a surplus of two lakh crores due to cheap petrol and diesel. He should do the same for farmers in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere in the country”, he said.

No doubt, it was a Prashant Kishor show which the camp of the Congress poll strategist dubbed a “trailor” to emphasise that a full “picture to abhi baaki hai”.

In Madhya Pradesh, the tribals call such meetings as “khatla sabhas”.

The poll pundits point that Congress’s blitzkrieg poll campaign is crafted keeping not just the crucial state elections in mind but also 2019 general assembly polls.
