Star Trek museum boldly goes where?
It was 50 years ago Thursday that a television show called “Star Trek” debuted, launching what ultimately become a science fiction cornerstone of America. In addition to temporary profile frames that rolled out earlier this week, users’ “like” options may have an otherworldly feel as well. According to Lindsey Shepard, Facebook Messenger’s marketing lead, the company has designed like buttons that show off Spock’s signature Vulcan salute, Kirk (Haha), Spock (Wow), Geordi (Sad), and a Klingon (Angry).

Star Trek: Discovery premieres on CBS in January 2017, before moving to the CBS All Access streaming service for the remainder of its 13-episode first season.
In this photo taken on May 18, 2016, a Starfleet insignia appears on the original tunic worn by Capt. James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, in the exhibit, “Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds”, as part of a 50th anniversary celebration of the “Star Trek” franchise at the EMP Museum, in Seattle. According to Facebook Messenger marketing lead Lindsey Shepard, they’ll appear for “some” Trek fans – meaning you’ve liked something Star Trek-related – in the US and Canada. In May, the social network added a flower reaction for Mother’s Day, but it disappeared soon after.
For a limited time, some (but not all) Facebook users in the USA and Canada will be able see iconic characters from the series replacing the standard buttons.

All you have to do is hover over the Like button on a post and those reactions should boldly go where no Like button has gone before.
