Broncos Linebacker Brandon Marshall Kneels During National Anthem
Cameras caught linebacker Brandon Marshall kneeling as singer Andra Day performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the opening game of the National Football League season at Mile High Stadium in Denver Thursday night.

Lately, for example, an inordinate amount of attention is being paid to the fact that a second-string quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers has decided not to stand up during the playing of the national anthem to protest the state of race relations in our country.
Earlier this week Watson, while recovering from a pre-season injury, posted on Facebook his thoughts on why he stands for the National Anthem.
President Obama, it should be mentioned, is one of those who emphasized the non-issue that Kaepernick had the right to kneel down during the national anthem.
Marshall sounded a similar theme after Denver’s 21-20 win.
“I am planning to take it a step further”.
“I stand because the mixed bag of good and evil is MY home”.
He thought it through because he understood there are strong feelings on both sides.
“I’m not anti-American. I love America”, said Kaepernick after his team’s most recent preseason game. He saw what he called “hate comments”.
I am nervous about a society that dictates what our response has to be to even the things we hold most dear. Kaepernick dealt with the same misplaced criticism.
On Sept. 5, another athlete followed Kaepernick’s actions when Megan Rapinoe, midfielder for the Seattle Reign Football Club, refused to stand for the anthem.
“I’m not sure if he’s figured out where he’s putting his money”, York said. I have that right.
Players have a platform, and it’s his right to do that.
“I support our players when they want to see change in society, and we don’t live in a ideal society”, Goodell said in an email to the AP. “We are excited to work with these two renowned foundations over the coming months to develop a giving plan to help our community find unifying solutions to these pressing issues”. As one of the top and most popular players in his sport, people will want to listen to what he has to say. Brandon Marshall took a knee during the patriotic moment.
“I don’t know Colin, but again, to each his own”. “He can talk all he wants, but actions speak louder than words”. Marshall said he’ll continue to protest during the anthem this season.

Patriots are not only men and women who risk their lives to protect our freedoms on the battlefield. “And I felt this was the right thing to do”. “I prayed about it, long and hard”, Marshall said.
