Wetterling family asks people to wear No. 11 for Jacob

The Minnesota Twins announced Thursday that they will wear patches honoring Jacob Wetterling on Friday night against the Cleveland Indians.

Jacob wore a red No. 11 jersey when playing youth sports.

A tribute to Jacob’s life, an outfield wall graphic, will remain at Target Field for the rest of the 2016 season. “Her son Jacob was kidnapped at gunpoint 27 years ago, and all that time she has kept the hope alive that he would be found”, Klobuchar said on the floor.

And after the ganme, the team will auction off 11 of the jerseys, including the “11” patch, with proceeds going to the Jacob Wetterling Resource Foundation.

As part of the deal, which Jacob’s family approved, prosecutors insisted that Heinrich lead them to the boy’s remains.

At a plea hearing Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Danny James Heinrich admitted to kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing Jacob Wetterling on October 22, 1989.

Several prayer services for Jacob are planned in the coming days.
