“We just got to treat Cam like a quarterback”, Olsen said. “Cam Newton is now going, ‘I thought we protected the quarterbacks in this league?'” “Obviously, you have to protect the ball down there but we sure as hell could’ve helped him”.
Three of those hits were to his head, and Carolina didn’t get one inch of penalty yardage out of them.
Players will be ejected after two unsportsmanlike penalties in 2016.
“It’s not my place to question the officials, ” Newton said. “I really like this officiating crew, so it wasn’t something I know they did intentionally”. Newton also took an inadvertent hit to the head from Miller on a sack by DeMarcus Ware. Check out every touchdown from the Broncos’ 21-20 win over the Panthers below. After hitting the 50-yarder as Gary Kubiak iced him, Graham Gano then missed the follow-up shot wide left, allowing Trevor Siemian to escape with the win under rather dubious circumstances.
Davis, who was signed Saturday after the Broncos released Mark Sanchez, worked out with quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp and practice squad receiver Kalif Raymond before kickoff.
“I was going to drill it, no doubt in my mind”, Gano said.
But he is now 0-1 for the season, after going 15-1 previous year.
Newton completed 18 of 33 passes for 194 yards, with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin, and 54 yards rushing, including a one-yard race to the pylon for another score.
Trevor Siemian: For someone who had never thrown a pass in an National Football League regular-season game, Siemian played it cool throughout the game despite mistakes.
Siemian’s final line: 18-of-26 passing for 178 yards, one touchdown, two picks and a 69.1 rating.
But the star of the game was Broncos running back Anderson, who scored twice while running for 92 yards on 20 carries and catching four passes for 47 yards.
On the Panthers’ next possession, Newton made a pretty incredible move to scramble up and threw a great pass over the top of the defense to Jonathan Stewart. Anderson plunged in from one-yard out, giving Denver a 21-17 lead. He also touches on the Broncos defence and his plans for the rest of the season. Marshall was a college teammate at Nevada with San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been taking a knee during the anthem to protest racial injustice.
“All I did was try to jam him – I think he knocked my hand up and I probably grazed his mask when he knocked my hand up”, Harris said. “I’m against social injustice”. It’s a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl as the Denver Broncos host the Carolina Panthers. Shaq Thompson recovered rookie Devontae Booker’s fumble at the Carolina 29 and Bene Benwikere intercepted Siemian’s pass at the Panthers’ 10.

Although timeouts in the first half are not almost as valuable as timeouts in the second half, using multiple timeouts to avoid mental penalties helped Carolina more than it helped Denver by allowing Cam Newton to regroup and plan for what the defense Denver was showing before the timeout. TSN NFL analyst Jabari Greer talks about when the game turned around for the Broncos and discusses Trevor Siemian efficient first NFL start. Later in the game, Brandon Marshall flew in on a defenseless Newton and went straight at his mouth.
