However, just then, Colin arrived, and told a flustered Dot, “Hello Dot”.
‘To be amongst so many friends again, and to be back in the place where 30 years ago I started an awesome journey. “They shouldn’t be getting married”, Dot said.
‘Arguably without EastEnders I would never have gone into politics; I would not have been one of the founders of Stonewall and its founding chair, and I would never have ended up where I am now.
Sonia tries to convince Dot to change her mind, but she’s adamant: “Look, I got an invitation and I thought about it and I decided no and I don’t want to talk about it anymore”. “I had a feeling you might not turn up unless I came for you”, he said.
Soap bosses are staying tight lipped about the reason for his return and what question he raises for Dot.
“Jim would be proud of your homophobia”, one viewer tweeted.
Were you surprised to hear Dot revealing her negative feelings regarding same-sex marriage?
However other viewers hoped that Dot will come around again, with one writing: “Is this going to be a two episode plot-arc when Dot goes from anti equal marriage to pro by Friday?”
She had been a supporter of Colin’s relationships after initial reluctance to accept his sexuality, so now fans of the soap are wondering if Dot is suffering from dementia.
