Eagles Won’t Hold Carson Wentz Back In His First NFL Start
No way to squeeze an entire offseason of practice time into just a few days.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz found out that instead of sitting on the bench for the season, he was going to be given the keys to the offense, and be the team’s starting signal caller THIS season.
There’s no way around it.
“Things changed around here pretty quickly”, Wentz said. Of course, we can help him as coaches in that regard.
While we’re not scolding anyone for being honest – the comments from Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta and Nassib are refreshing and honest evaluations, which we rarely see anymore – the pair had better hope they are right.
“If something doesn’t go right, I am grabbing the guys during special teams drills in practice or after practice and just repping it”, Wentz said. “We are excited for him to get this chapter of not only his career but our career together off the ground on Sunday”.
Wentz and Dallas Cowboys starter Dak Prescott are the only rookie quarterbacks in Week 1 starting lineups. On Sunday, Wentz will make his National Football League debut as a rookie starter for the Eagles against the visiting Browns in the regular-season opener for both teams.
But the internet never forgets, and a gem from Wentz’s less glamorous past just emerged. Wentz, too, indicated he doesn’t expect to have limitations this week. I’ve been able to grow as a player and as a leader in this locker room.
The Browns’ new quarterback has been elected as one of their captains for the 2016 season by his teammates, the team announced Wednesday . We will not always be right on those type of things.
“Coming from a smaller school, you kind of have a chip on your shoulder so to speak”, he said.
“We get a first-round pick, it makes sense”. I think there were a lot of people that were surprised, but now, it is just move forward. Receiver Josh Gordon is suspended for Sunday. It’s been a pleasure working with him.
He didn’t waste much time getting started. But that’s something you’ve got to do as a professional.
“I don’t want to harness that aggression”, said the Eagles’ head coach. But Carson’s a smart dude.
“It’s different, but it’s something I’ve been used to”, Matthews said. They had to settle for a QB out of Syracuse, Donovan McNabb. I have said all along and he is such a sharp guy. They know what he can do after seeing him in practice. And we’ve harped on takeaways, but now those takeaways need to turn into scores. “Do what we do and do it well”. While Griffin had 38 pass attempts in three games in August, a rib injury limited Wentz to 39 total snaps – less than any quarterback drafted in the first four rounds in April.
“That’s just the type of person and that’s the type of quarterback that we have”, Pederson said Wednesday. “Not being here during OTAs, it hurts, but after practice is the only time we have to get ready”.
He spent last season as the Redskins’ third-string quarterback behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy.
He played eight games with Foles, 10 games with Sanchez and 14 games with Bradford.

“I don’t want to harness that aggression”, Pederson said. “I’ve been preparing even when I haven’t been playing. all the way through. At Vanderbilt I played with six different, and I think this is my fourth different, in three years in the National Football League”.
