New Apple Magic Mouse And Wireless Keyboard Coming Soon
Yesterday, the United States Federal Communications Commission posted a group of filings, according to SlashGear, that appear to show a substantial upgrade in Apple’s Magic Mouse and Keyboard.

Apple’s FCC filings are accompanied by documentation which notes that the products provided to the FCC for testing represent “the final version of the equipment as it will be released to the market”.
The new Bluetooth Magic Mouse will be launched called the Magic Mouse 2 the FCC filing reports, although nothing seems to have change to the name of the Wireless Keyboard. And given that it’s been more than six years since either device has been upgraded, it’s long overdue. Instead, the new peripherals will have support for Bluetooth 4.2, offering greater energy efficiency as well as security.
The Magic Mouse hasn’t really been updated since 2009 and the wireless keyboard hasn’t received an update since even before that.
The internals of both devices will see a notable overhaul in their Bluetooth capabilities, with each device getting a bump from Bluetooth 2.1 to Bluetooth 4.2. Apple is also said to incorporate Lithium-Ion battery packs, which will mean saying goodbye to AA batteries. In other words, it’s a safe bet that we’ll have new accessories come this fall.
