Emails allegedly support Brazil’s case against Pat Hickey
However, the public prosecutor in Rio has now confirmed that Burke is not named on the charges against Hickey and Mallon.

The police move comes just after Bach was criticised for the handling of the allegations of state sponsored doping in Russian Federation and for the handling of organising the Games in Rio. The International Paralympic Committee says he won’t return for any of the events. “There has been no pro-activity whatsoever coming from the International Olympic Committee”.
As Brazilian police wound up their investigation on the OCI tickets controversy, further details emerged of text messages exchanged between Hickey and the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach in the run up to the Rio Games.
The IOC said that Thomas Bach “has no plans to travel to Brazil” after he pulled out of attending Wednesday’s opening ceremony, the first time that an IOC president has missed the event since 1984. It is thought he is no longer in Brazil.
Police allege Hickey plotted with others to transfer tickets illegally from a sports company called Pro 10 to London-based hospitality provider THG Sports, which was a non-authorised vendor and allegedly sold them for very high fees.
Police said that an additional 296 tickets were allocated to the OCI following the text conversation.
Hickey, who is also head of the European Olympic Committees and a key Bach ally, was arrested at the Olympic Family Hotel in Rio’s Barra da Tijuca during the Games, following a round-up alleged touts who were found in possession of several hundred tickets issued through the Olympic Council of Ireland.
The police presented documents during the press conference which they said demonstrated the links between THG Sports and Cartan.
The charges are now with a judge at the Special Court for Supporters and Large Events in Rio. It is expected that the judge will decide in the coming days whether or not the cases should be accepted or rejected.
Hickey and Mallon face charges of ticket touting, forming a criminal cartel, illicit marketing, embezzlement, tax evasion and money laundering.
Police said the other eight men are not in Brazil and are considered fugitives. No request has been made for the return of either passport as of today.
‘Mr Burke returned to Ireland from the Rio Games with the Irish Olympic team’.
