It happened Thursday morning at Alpine High School in West Texas.

One federal officer responding to the shooting was shot by accident by a colleague, Dodson said, adding that person is in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening. He found the shooter dead in a bathroom with a gun nearby, Dodson said.

Police dispatcher Scarlet Eldred had no immediate information on whether anyone was hurt in an unspecified incident at the high school shortly before 9 a.m. Eldred says police were seeking an “active shooter”.

The junior continued, saying that after police began ushering students out “there was blood on the floor in the cafeteria that I saw when we went past it on our way out of the school”, the student said.

After the shooting, Dodson said another threat was called into Sul Ross State University prompting an evacuation however, conflicting reports surfaced as some officials say it was a bomb threat and others have said it was an active shooter threat.

Her name hasn’t being released. The threat was interpreted as a bomb threat, and authorities shifted their resources to the university.

Another call, from potentially the same caller, made a threat toward the Big Bend Regional Medical Center, by stating, “we’re going to shoot that place up”. The hospital was later cleared as well.

This is a developing story we will update with confirmed reports as they come in.

“Around 10, 10:15 is when we started seeing the cops pull up on campus and the choppers flying around and everything else”, he said. Talking to them, the grandparents said she was a straight A student and there were no indications of any problems. Authorities said the last time the campus was cleared it took authorities almost an entire day to secure the campus.

“The shooter appears to have shot herself”, Dodson said, earlier in the morning.

Currently, law enforcement said the male prank caller is currently their “focus” at this time.
