“I don’t necessarily agree with what he is doing”, Goodell said.
“I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and make the kind of money I do, and I have to help these people”. “And we can make this country better, and that they believe I was someone who could help that change”.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback wouldn’t stand for the anthem at the team’s preseason games, with teammate Eric Reid and Seattle’s Jeremy Lane doing the same. Kaepernick is protesting police brutality, specifically against African-Americans, and the systematic oppression of people of color.
Kaepernick has been at the center of heated controversy following his decision to kneel during the national anthem.

Like it or not, this is a civil rights movement.
Kaepernick also addressed the influence her religion has had on him on Wednesday.
“I want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support, it truly means a lot”, the quarterback wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. He always said America was an incredible nation.
“Just, [there are] other ways to get your point across”, he continued.

“When I was fortunate enough to address the team early on, it was just a focus of, ‘As the New York Giants and as a flagship organization in the National Football League, we are going to do things with class, and that is what our organization personifies’. I have great respect for people’s right to believe what they want to believe, and I don’t think anybody should be prosecuted or judged based on what their beliefs are”.
