Hull seals club-record Mason swoop
Hull City announced the signing of English central midfielder Ryan Mason from Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year contract for a “club-record fee” on Tuesday.

No financial details of the deal were disclosed but Hull said they had broken their previous record fee of 10 million pounds ($13 million) paid for striker Abel Hernandez. Northern Echo journalist Scott Wilson just tweeted that Mason is set to have a medical today. but not at Sunderland as previously reported, but with Hull City, the club where he was originally linked.
“Arsenal was a local derby for my old team and I was part of a few good results against them so hopefully that can carry on with Hull”, Mason told the club’s official website.
Mason has signed a three-year deal with Hull as has keeper David Marshall. “It’s a shame I’ve got to wait for two weeks”. It felt right – I had to go with my gut.
“It’s all about having that new, fresh challenge to look forward to”.
“Having spoken to the people up here, I didn’t need any convincing”.
The one-time England worldwide could make his debut in the Tigers’ next Premier League match away at Burnley on September 10.
Mason came through the youth ranks at Tottenham and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in November 2008. “Of course, I’m an Englishman and I want to play for my country”.

“It’s a great feeling to have a club showing that level of interest in me and for them to have that confidence in me as well”, the 25-year-old Mason added. You can’t take anything for granted and I’m here to fight for a place, I’ve always been like that wherever I’ve been.
