Maples, 22, was found dead by a friend at her Brown Drive apartment.

Murfreesboro police reported Saturday that Brandon Bowling was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.

“You wouldn’t think that would happen to her because everybody liked her, so it’s just really weird”, said Taylor Brooks, Maples’ friend and neighbor.

Murfreesboro Police Department spokesperson Kyle Evans said a warrant was issued for 22-year-old Brandon Richmond Bowling in the murder of Heather Maples, according to the station. She was not a student at the nearby college.

Maples, originally from Texas, also worked at the apartment complex where she lived.

Channel 4 knocked on Bowling’s door to see if he had a roommate, but no one answered. However, the connection, if any, between Bowling and Maples has yet to be released.

According to police, Maples visited at least two bars the night that she was killed.

Bowling does not have a criminal history in Tennessee. It was obvious to officers a homicide had taken place when they arrived, and they called detectives to the scene to investigate, police previously said.
