The Detroit Lions gave extensions to punter Sam Martin and running back Theo Riddick on Friday.

The Lions not only locked up their talented young running back Friday, but also secured their starting punter through the 2020 season, signing him to a four-year extension worth $13.6 million, according to Rapoport.
The terms of their new deals were not disclosed by the team, but NFL Network is reporting that Riddick’s new contract is for three years and $12.75 million.
Both Riddick and Martin joined the Lions when they were drafted by the Lions in 2013. General manager Bob Quinn said in a statement that he’s glad the extensions have been completed before the start of the season. “I’m very pleased that both players can join their teammates in fully concentrating on our opening game”.
Martin, a fifth-round pick in 2013, has become one of the best punters in the NFL. Riddick caught 80 passes in 2015, which led the National Football League for running backs.
Last year Martin had a career-high net average of 42.0 yards, with 25 punts downed inside the 20-yard line and only three touchbacks.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Farris returns to the Lions after originally signing with the team earlier this year as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Ohio State.

He has carved his niche in the Lions offense as the passing-down back, recording 114 receptions for 1,013 yards over the past two seasons. He saw action in Detroit’s first three preseason games.
