NFL Draft to be held on Philadelphia Museum of Art steps

We don’t yet know who will be holding the first pick of the 2017 National Football League draft, but we know where it’s going to be located.

Chicago hosted the draft for two years, and there is a chance that Philly could follow suit. The Draft had been in Chicago the previous two years and Chicago did a fine job serving as the host for the three-day event.

“On behalf of the City and our legion of Philadelphia Eagles fans, we’re proud to be chosen as host city for the 2017 NFL Draft”, said Kenney. Players are set to walk up the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art after being drafted, which is pretty cool.

This is not Philadelphia’s first foray into hosting the NFL Draft, having served as the site of the inaugural event held in 1936. Philadelphia has hosted the NFL Draft many times in the past, but not since 1960 at the Warwick Hotel.

The draft will be held from April 27-29.

Cities around the United States could begin jockeying for the draft if Philly can bring together a three day event that is worthy of keeping it out of NY. Those in NY who spent years attending the NFL Draft now have an easier route to regain that experience, and the densely populated New Jersey will bring in a nice portion of three different NFL fanbases.

Senior vice-president Peter O’Reilly said on Thursday the event’s location will represent a return to the birthplace of the draft. Join us in a conversation about world events, the newsgathering process or whatever aspect of the news universe you find interesting or important.
