A Dollar General store is coming to Caruthers next year.

Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, said the company’s priority when choosing store locations is convenience, as its stores generally serve customers within a 3- to 5-mile radius, or 10-minute drive. W will hold its grand opening at 8 a.m. October 1.
30, conference call between supervisor Kevin Goss and Dollar General representatives provided only vague new information regarding the potential purchase and construction of a Dollar General box store on Highway 89 in downtown Greenville. A traffic study indicates the store will generate about 400 vehicle trips per day. All lighting on the property, according to the application, would be directed toward the ground. Stormwater will be captured by a closed drainage system and directed to a detention pond.
The store in Derma still is being renovated and will open in “mid-fall”, according to Dollar General.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, based in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, has announced that Regional School Unit 18 Belgrade Central School in Belgrade, Libby-Tozier Literacy Initiative Committee in Litchfield, Atwood Primary School/RSU 18 in Oakland and Regional School Unit 18 in Oakland, received youth literacy grants in the amount of $2,000 each.
The store will employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on the needs of the store. Dollar General did not buy the location in Walnut, but it does have a store there.
“We know a building permit is to be filed by the end of the year”, said Goss.

Dollar General bought 41 of the former Walmart Express stores in 11 states for an undisclosed sum in July.
