The Denver Broncos made a decision to release Sanchez as they set their final roster for the 2016 season but the Dallas Cowboys acted quickly to snatch up the Sanchize. While Sanchez is no one’s choice for a starting quarterback unless you’re playing for nothing this season, the 7-year veteran is what the Cowboys needed.

While the Broncos are entering the season with a lot of unanswered questions at the quarterback position, the Cardinals are set with Carson Palmer, who was an MVP candidate previous year. Sanchez, however, was beaten out by second-year pro Trevor Siemian, a seventh-round pick in 2015 from Northwestern. Instead, it’s the preseason finale as the teams get ready to start the 2016 National Football League season as two of the top Super Bowl contenders. Sanchez completed 20 of his 30 passes this preseason for 219 yards, one score and one interception in two outings. When training camp opened it appeared Siemian had some ground to make up to overcome Sanchez, but on Saturday in week three of the preseason, Siemian showed the Broncos coaching staff all they needed to see. This also leaves reason to believe that veteran back Ronnie Hillman will probably not make the roster, getting traded or cut by the deadline.
Although the Cowboys have tabbed rookie Dak Prescott as their starter, adding an experienced backup behind him in the event of injury became imperative once Romo went down.
The Broncos reportedly tried to trade Sanchez before the cut deadline on Saturday, but no teams were willing to take on his $4.5 million contract. A pair of fumbles in a preseason game against San Francisco put his job in jeopardy, and the appointment of Trevor Siemian as the season-opening starter all but sealed Sanchez’s fate.

This news comes just less than a week after the Broncos were actively trying to deal Sanchez to the Cowboys, who ultimately relented and still got their guy for a lower price.
