Jackson leads No. 13 Louisville past Syracuse, 62-28
A week after accounting for eight touchdowns in the only half he played against Charlotte, Jackson ran for four TDs and passed for two. Receiver Amba Etta-Tawo once again made his presence known for the Orange, with 103 yards and a pair of scores to lead the team.

And, he provided the highlight of the night, leaping over cornerback Cordell Hudson en route to a 10-yard touchdown, one of five scores he accounted for in a 62-28 victory against Syracuse in front of a crowd of 32,184. Another jump is on the way next week. While that’s obviously not the case, he’s gotten himself off to such a historic start that he is undoubtedly sitting in the catbird’s seat for the honor, having now broken the Louisville single-game total yards mark, becoming the first Cardinal to exceed 600 yards in a single game. They’re for real, and as long as Jackson stays healthy the Atlantic Division of the ACC promises to be more interesting. Jackson read blitzes well enough against Charlotte to hit running backs who converted those catches into TDs. Then he ran for 72 yards on the first play of Louisville’s third drive.
After being torched on Colgate’s opening drive last week (and despite holding the Raiders scoreless the rest of the game, still looked unimpressive), Syracuse’s secondary looked putrid for almost the entire night. Jackson scored three touchdowns in the first five offensive reps for the Cardinals as they rolled out to the early, insurmountable lead.
Colgate finished with just 45 yards rushing in the game as the Orange proved to be strong on that front, allowing just 1.4 yards per carry.
The win keeps Louisville (2-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) undefeated for its September 17 home showdown against No. 3 Florida State.
