G20 to agree refugees a global issue: EU diplomat

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed solidarity with China in its fight against terrorism and violence at a news conference Monday following the G20 summit held in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.

“They have pictures of other leaders going there coming down with lovely red carpet”, he said.

Obama also said that the U.S. and Russian Federation have “deep differences” regarding the sides they support in Syrian and the different approach to bring peace to the country.

Hangzhou (China), Sep 5: The 11th G20 Summit ended here on Monday, reaching extensive consensus on pursuing innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economic growth.

In his tenth and final meeting, the US President said: “More than ever our economies are interconnected and we’ve got more work to do to keep the global economy growing”.

Obama will become the first sitting US president to travel to Laos later Monday, where he plans to push for closer economic ties with Laos and Southeast Asia, and raise human rights abuses in the one-party communist state. The United States called the launch reckless, while Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told U.S. President Barack Obama that it was unforgivable.

“We’ll see in coming days whether on Syria we can reach a near-term agreement”.

These latest talks between Obama and Putin come as the Russian-backed Syrian government troops continue their siege of Aleppo.

Lack of trust between the USA and Russian Federation is getting in the way of possible cooperation to stop the violence in Syria, President Obama said Sunday, adding that he nevertheless plans to keep trying against the odds.

“I always want to make sure if I’m having a meeting that it’s productive and we’re getting something done”, Obama said during his news conference.

The White House wants to determine whether the Minsk ceasefire can be implemented beforeObama leaves office in January, or whether economic sanctions on Russian Federation will need to be extended, the official said. There was agreement, not just between myself and Mr. (Vladimir) Putin, but with Chancellor (Angela) Merkel and President (Francois) Hollande, that that effort should increase in urgency over the next several weeks.
