Like Pope Francis, many will continue to call her ‘Mother Teresa’
Masses and special prayers marked the 19th death anniversary of Mother Teresa on Monday, a day after she was conferred sainthood by Pope Francis at the Vatican.

In Vatican City, thousands gathered on Sunday to celebrate Mother Teresa being declared a saint by Pope Francis.
Jaworowski, a lifelong Catholic from Pittsburgh who visited Chicago over the weekend with her husband, said the word “saint” is “extremely holy”. Pope Francis described her as an “eloquent witness to God’s closeness to the poorest of the poor”. Some have raised questions about where the money donated to her order by those “powers of the world” came from-and where it went: Several doctors’ accounts reported that her clinics for the sick provided inadequate care in “unfit” conditions.
“That led her to identify as “the poorest of the poor” children who were not yet born and whose existence was threatened”, Cardinal Parolin said. The sisterhood now has 4,500 nuns worldwide. Like she was such a positive person.
“I was thinking, Mother used to say “I’m a little pencil in God’s hand” and this Mother is giving great glory to God through her works of love”.
Hundreds of Missionaries of Charity sisters had front-row seats at the Mass. She died in 1997. Francis declared Mother Teresa a saint on Sunday, praising the tiny nun for having taken in society’s most unwanted and for having shamed world leaders for the “crimes of poverty they themselves created.” .
She died September 5, 1997, and was beatified just six years later by St. John Paul II on October 19, 2003.
After the canonization service, the pope treated 1,500 homeless people from across Italy to Neapolitan pizza served by members of Mother Teresa’s order. Known to be pushy in getting her work done, Mother Teresa was an active fundraiser for a noble cause.
Though there has been some controversy surrounding her and all that she represents, this means an enormous amount to many, including the 30-year-old woman, Monica Besra, who claims to have been cured by praying to Saint Teresa.

However, Mother Teresa’s legacy has been criticized.
