Jeremy Scott Gave the VMA Moonman a Ravey Makeover

The MTV Video Music Awards most classic piece of hardware is getting a radical makeover.

The MTV VMA trophy has been reimagined by designer Jeremy Scott ahead of this year’s awards show.

MTV has decided to give their award a new look for its 2015 ceremony, via designer Jeremy Scott. The design is a rainbow-hued take on the silvery original, complete with a pair of Scott’s winged Adidas sneakers in lieu of moon boots and a hefty chain sporting a peace sign around its neck. MTV has said that this was done as a way to reference the past way of watching TV as we continue to move into an age of digital consumption. Currently, MTV has no plans to redesign the statue again.

The network will be handing out the new Moonman statues on Aug. 30 at 9 PM ET/PT.

It’s only fitting, considering Scott is the creative director of cheeky fashion label Moschino, which holds a celeb following that includes Miley Cyrus (who just so happens to be hosting this year’s VMAs), Katy Perry, Madonna and Rita Ora.
