Puppy Swims 6 Miles, Walks 12 More to Find Family

While Ed was busy in the engine room and his wife was steering, their 10 month-old dog Rylee had fell overboard.

After jumping off a stalled boat in Lake Michigan, an IL dog’s family is happy to be reunited with their furry friend Monday after being found by campers in Michigan, NBC affiliate WPBN reports. Rylee apparently swam for about ten kilometers and then walked for another twenty.

That is, until Lynn Fiedor, operator of the Lost Dog Search Team Facebook page, caught wind of the missing canine.

She said every morning, Rylee swims in the lake near their home for about two hours, but she knew they were about six miles from shore, and wasn’t sure she’d make it.

“We ended up having over 20,000 people look at our post online and when I saw that I was like.we’re going to find the dog”, Fiedor said.

A woman called Fiedor Monday morning after spotting Rylee on M-22 near Empire.

‘A lady said she had seen the dog going into the Platte River Campground, ‘ Lynn said.

Rylee rushed out of the woods toward the sounds of a toy Kristin squeaked, surprising her as she quickly called for the dog.

“Our optimism grew.and we found her in 15 minutes”, Ed said.

“I was in my front yard, jumping up and down and crying”, she said.

“There was a lot of sobbing and a lot of hugging”.

The post says Rylee went overboard on Sunday, August 28 and that she was reunited with her family the next day.

“We have a happy ending, and it’s the reason we do what we do”, Fiedor said.
