Marshall took a knee as the national anthem was performed Thursday night for a national prime time television audience and the crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The move has caused controversy, with some lauding players for standing up for what they believe in and others saying it was disrespectful.
Reid joined Kaepernick’s protest in the preseason finale September 1 in San Diego, with both players taking a knee during the anthem.
Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall, who took a knee during “The Star Spangled Banner” before the National Football League season opener Thursday night, claims “I’m not against” the military and the police but rather, “I’m against social injustice”.
“The message is I’m against social injustice”, Marshall said. “I prayed about it and I felt like God led me to do this”.
“A cop pulls his Taser out, they push me up against the wall and they handcuff me and they were going to take me in for resisting arrest but they eventually let me go”.
“A lot of stuff that happened this summer, the police brutality, that sparked a conversation”. In the eyes of a lot of people, I’ll be respected.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall will pay the price for joining in with the protests against the national anthem that have dominated the headlines in the NFL over the last number of weeks.

The latest NFL player to refuse to stand for America’s national anthem says he doesn’t stand against men and women in uniform by kneeling during the song. My dad taught me two things that I believe in strongly. “Some people did decide not to, but I did”. “He’s told me he’s had that same feeling with a number of guys”. They grab me and they’re trying to wrestle me and take me to the ground. “Be your best self'”. Marshall spoke after the game and was ready for the barrage of questions that were bound to come his way during his meeting with the press. He finished with six tackles.
