The duo has also removed the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, bringing in Lightning headphones and possibly going completely wireless next year. Apple has long pushed its own proprietary technology, allowing the company to cash in on sales of more chargers, and now, Apple hopes, headphones. It won’t be a ideal solution to the problem Apple created, but it’ll be the best option out there for those us with good headphones we’ve invested in.

Even though the phone is certified to sustain complete submersions in water, Apple will apparently not entertain warranty complaints pertaining to water damage.

Apple’s solution, according to an email response from Apple marketing exec Phil Schiller, is the company’s Lightning Dock. I’m not in the upgrade program because I’m too far from an Apple Store to bother with it, but I’d consider it reasonable if iPhone Upgrade Program members had some sort of priority on launch day inventory.

While the company hasn’t explicitly said so, this is likely a result of the weaker pound sterling against the U.S. dollar, following the result of the “Brexit” referendum in which the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.

Ignoring Windows Phone (because this appears to be a volatile segment, and one which has dwindled to a point where it won’t be much of an issue this time around), we find that 1.7 percent of Android users upgrade, compared to 1.1 percent of iPhone users.
