His side of the draw opened up a bit Sunday, when the fourth-seeded Nadal was eliminated.

But this time, 2014 U.S. Open runner-up Nishikori came through.

“Grigor played his best but I didn’t really give him a chance to get into the match”.

A double break in the second kept Murray firmly in control.

Murray, 29, stormed to an impressive seventh win in 10 meetings against the 22nd-seeded Dimitrov. It took only a few minutes to realize Murray would not be following Rafael Nadal out of the tournament.

The fifth-seeded Romanian won 6-2, 7-5 on Monday.

“I played extremely well”. Halep will next face Serena in the quarterfinals.

Dimitrov dumped a routine overhead volley into the net to offer an early 3-1 lead to Murray, who then reeled off the next six games in a row.

“It’s going to be a hard match. I’m looking forward to do a good match after tomorrow”.

U.S. Tennis Association spokesman Chris Widmaier said the tournament “is aware of the betting alert” and that the TIU is handling the mattter.

The New York Times first reported on the alert to the TIU.

World No.2 Andy Murray has revealed that he has “not been sleeping great” ahead of his quarter-final clash against rival Kei Nishikori.

Wawrinka, a former Australian and French Open champion, reached a fourth successive quarter-final in NY with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-1, 6-7 (5/7), 6-3 win over Illya Marchenko, the world No 63 from Ukraine.

Dimitrov is certainly capable of challenging Murray here, and his unorthodox style could upset Murray – in saying that, Murray has one of the best defensive games on the circuit. It happened with Murray already up two sets to one and holding a second break point at 1-all in the fourth.

During the changeover right before the last game, it suddenly began to rain, and play was delayed only slightly before the shower passed.

The USTA says the malfunctioning unit will be replaced between Wednesday’s day and night sessions. He’s playing really well.

Murray has now reached his sixth quarter-final at Flushing Meadows.

The Bulgarian was no match for the Scot, who dropped only five games as he recorded a 6-1 6-2 6-2 victory in stunning style.

Karolina Pliskova dominated with her serve to roll past 18-year-old Ana Konjuh and into the U.S. Open semifinals. Murray also won 79 percent of his first-serve points and 54 percent of his return points. 37-year-old Karlovic was the oldest player to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam in 25 years. I did a lot of unforced errors.

Del Potro also shook off any concerns about his left wrist. The No.7 seeds will now face off against the top seeded pairing of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

Nishikori broke for 1-0 in the deciding set and backed it up for 2-0 before Murray stopped a seven-game losing streak to hold. I didn’t expect to be in quarters in my second grand slam after my comeback.
