“The message is I’m against social injustice”.

“Absolutely they were worth the consequences”. “I’m not against the police or America”.

“Although we have enjoyed Brandon Marshall as our spokesperson over the past five months, Air Academy Federal Credit Union has ended our partnership”, the AAFCU said in a statement Friday.

“Since this stuff started, I’ve had conversations with him on a much deeper level than I ever have”, 49ers safety Eric Reid said Friday. “We wish Brandon well on his future endeavours”, Strebe wrote.

Inside linebacker Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos looks on from the bench in the first half against the Carolina Panthers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on September 8, 2016.

Marshall has become the first of the players who have protested so far to lose a sponsorship deal over their actions, but with a full slate of games scheduled for Sunday, there may well be others who chose to join in and replicate the gesture. “I felt this was the right thing to do”. “I think that’s something that’s very necessary for us to improve as a country”.

Reid joined Kaepernick’s protest in the preseason finale September 1 in San Diego, with both players taking a knee during the anthem. Some people are bashing him on the Internet, but I’m not bashing him at all. Marshall, like Kaepernick, said he would continue to kneel during the anthem and promised to donate to charities like Wounded Warriors, the Post reported. “There’s a lot of hate out there but I’m not here to spread hate or negativity”.

“Any time you do something – a protest – you know there’s going to be backlash”, he said. “Every time he does something or every time he’s been in the media for something negative or even something positive, I get all the criticism”.

“I had so many comments on Twitter and Instagram”, he said. “It’s insane. So, now he knows what it feels like”.

Marshall made no mention of his plans for Thursday’s opener, saying he didn’t want to take focus away from the team’s preparation.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said during the preseason that he encourages his players to stand for the anthem but respects their decisions and will not “babysit” them.

Marshall said he asked a team spokesman to help him “come up with a strategy for an end-game”.

Marshall and Kaepernick were college teammates in Nevada and the former said he wanted to show his support for the quarterback’s silent protest.
