In the mounting unrest in the Kashmir valley, another man was killed during clashes between protesters and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sayar Ahmad Sheikh was killed today after being hit by a tear smoke shell in the head at Tukroo of Shopian district when security personnel were trying to disperse a group of stone-pelting protesters. Over 10,000 civilians and more than 4,000 security men have also been injured in clashes between security personnel and youth during protests in the Valley in the last 64 days.
The official said Sheikh was rushed to the sub-district hospital at Rajpora where doctors declared him brought dead.
Yawar Mushtaq, another civilian, died due to pellets fired by the security forces at Botengoo village in Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said at least six incidents of stone pelting by protestors were reported from Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian in South Kashmir and Sopore and Baramulla in north Kashmir.
Bhat sustained pellet injuries during the clashes, he said. The official further added that restrictions on gatherings of people would remain throughout the Valley.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the Valley continue to remain closed due to the shutdown that has been extended until September 16 by the separatists.

Since then, tens of thousands of people have defied security restrictions, staged protests and clashed with government forces on a daily basis to seek an end to Indian rule.
