Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro Evacuated, Closed for Saturday

The Six Flags America theme park near Washington, D.C. was evacuated Saturday afternoon after receiving a bomb threat, police said.

The threat came on the eve of the 15th 9/11 anniversary.

According to Prince George’s County police, a threat was called into the park around 1:30 p.m. Police did not issue any evacuation orders but the park chose to close early.

Prince George’s County police said they found nothing at the park that presented a danger. Approximately 3,000 people were inside Six Flags America when the evacuation happened, according to authorities.

A spokeswoman for the park said out of an abundance of caution, authorities have asked them to clear the park.

No further information has been released as to whether anyone has been arrested for the threat.

Police said there was a possible bomb threat
