Moore leads Cincinnati over Purdue 38-20
“We had to win this game, get some momentum”, Tuberville said.

But we’ll start with quarterback David Blough, who had a career game.
“We thought it was a stinger, but it might be a strain or sprain”, Purdue coach Darrell Hazell said. However, Blough’s deflected pass was intercepted.
Tyson was receiving an IV treatment after the game and was unavailable to talk to reporters, but he told associate athletic director Ryan Koslen that he was just doing his job.
The Boilermakers pulled within 14-7 with 10:30 left in the second quarter on Blough’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Domonique Young. Blough passed for 401 yards. Cincinnati converted 12 of its first 14 third-down situations. Two plays later, Moore threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Nate Cole to give the Bearcats a 7-0 lead.
“Tackling, making plays on the ball, recognizing that it’s third down and we have to get off the field”, he said.
After Purdue’s J.D. Dellinger missed a 28-yard field goal attempt, Cincinnati increased its lead to 14-0 on Moore’s 9-yard run with 13:58 to play in the first half, capping a 13-play, 80-yard drive.
Here’s some downside, Blough became just the sixth quarterback in Purdue history to throw five or more interceptions in a game and first since Scott Hoffman was picked off five times against Ohio State in 1990.
UC forced five turnovers including three interceptions by senior safety Mike Tyson.
This could be an interesting game here as both Purdue and Cincinnati are coming off season-opening wins. Coupled with Moore’s solid day, the Bearcats won each side of the ball.
Purdue: The Boilermakers’ defense allowed 7.6 yards each time Cincinnati snapped the ball in the first half, when the Bearcats were 9 of 11 on third-down conversions. Coupled with the five interceptions of Blough, Purdue mistakes denied the Boilermakers a chance of rallying from what was once a 24-point deficit.
Here’s the good news, David Blough threw for 401 yards, becoming the first Boilermaker to eclipse the 400-yard passing mark since Danny Etling threw for 485 against IN in 2013. Former Super Bowl winning quarterback Bob Griese was intercepted five times by IL in a 1966 game that Purdue actually rallied to win, 25-21.
On fourth and eight on UC’s next offensive series, UC Moore ran 23 yards for a touchdown to put the victory away.
Cincinnati: The Bearcats return home to play No. 6 Houston on Thursday night, hoping to improve to 3-0 and spring a major upset.
“We were not looking ahead to Houston, but it’s hard not to because we hear so much about them”, Bearcats’ running back Tion Green said.
