This is another controversy that has hit AAP, two weeks after the sacking of cabinet minister Sandeep Kumar for getting caught in a sex scandal.

The MLA has intimated Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal about his resignation from all posts. He further wrote, “Therefore I would like to get relieved of all responsibilities party has given me, I resign from all posts”. Mr Khan was appointed as the chairman of Delhi Waqf Board in March.

It may be noted that Khan had earlier been arrested on charges of threatening to get a woman raped and killed when she had gone to him to complain of problems in supply of electricity to a South Delhi locality.

The complainant, a 32-year-old woman, has alleged that Amanatullah Khan tried to pressurise her into having sexual relations with him. She levelled dowry allegations against her in-laws too, the sources added. A case had been registered then against him under sections 506, 509 of the IPC at Jamia Nagar police station.

This is the second case against the Okhla MLA. He was sent to police custody for a day. “There is no irregularity as alleged”, Khan said. “Some people dislike my honesty and service and false allegations are being levelled against me and my family to frame us”.

In his letter he mentions that he and his family has been falsely implicated in various cases and that he is exhausted of explaining it to the public, news agency ANI reports. “Because, I was the chairman of the Waqf Board and exposing corruption in it one by one”, Mr Khan told the media.

“I wanted to construct schools, hospitals on Board’s land. If he has resigned on moral grounds, I think he should also resign from the Assembly”, Congress leader and former Waqf Board chairman Haroon Yusuf said.

Khan charged that Ahmed gave 62 bigha Waqf land to a private developer without mentioning the time and duration of the lease, giving “free hand” to the developer to seek rent from the tenants. Police said Khan had allegedly also attempted to run over the woman.
