Patriots trade for Eagles CB Eric Rowe
According to Adam Schefter, Kline is no longer involved in the Rowe trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Patriots.

So as a result of the trade fallout, the Patriots chose to release Kline on Wednesday, making him a free agent.
It was originally reported that the Philadelphia Eagles would receive offensive lineman Josh Kline and a 2018 fourth-round pick from the Patriots for cornerback Eric Rowe. That being said, he was impressive on the whole, and that’s why the Eagles were able to demand a proven veteran guard in Kline as well as an undisclosed draft pick in return for Rowe.
Kline appeared in 14 games-starting 13-for the Pats in 2015 and saw action at both left and right guard.
Although the Patriots owned the Seattle Seahawks’ fourth-rounder in 2017, that pick will now belong to the Eagles.
The linebacker out of Rutgers University, who was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, has been placed on New England’s practice squad.
Rowe was Kelly’s pick during the one draft he had complete control over, the 2015 draft.
The conditional pick can reportedly become a third-round pick based on incentives involving Rowe. Rowe was a second round pick previous year (out of Utah) but fell behind Ron Brooks, Leodis McKelvin, Jalen Mills and Nolan Carroll on the depth chart after a lackluster summer. Kelly attended Rowe’s pro day and must have come away impressed enough to use a high pick on him. The Eagles, however, liked him better at cornerback and that’s where he played primarily his rookie season. They hired a player-first head coach who will run a more traditional West Coast offense, and hung onto the core players instead of getting rid of them.
