Edwards suffered the injury during summer workouts. The senior rushed for 111 yards on 21 carries before departing late in the second quarter.

WISCONSIN: Trainers appeared to be working on Clement’s lower left leg and ankle.

“I really had to be mature about the situation”, Clement said.

Questions about Clement surfaced when he carried the ball only eight times in the loss to Alabama to open 2015, and he then missed the next seven games while recovering from surgery to fix a hernia.

Corey Clement is proving he can carry a full workload for No. 10 Wisconsin. “Certainly, Corey’s got to be that guy we can get him in the 20s at least on the carries”. The offense was almost completely balanced, rushing for 294 yards while passing for 292. Wisconsin won 54-10, outpacing Akron in every aspect of the game and played like the number ten team in the nation should for all four quarters. They had 296 passing yards and 212 rushing in a 45-38 loss to Oregon. Woodson threw for 407 yards and six touchdowns last week against Virginia Military Institute as part of an effective downfield passing attack that the Zips were trying to execute against the Badgers.

On the second offensive drive for Wisconsin, Houston also came back from an nearly interception by connecting with Rob Wheelwright for a 47 yard pass. Wheelwright would end the day with four receptions for 99 yards.

A 34-yard reception for a touchdown capped off his day, one that showed what the linkup between he and Houston could become.

Two games into his Badgers tenure, defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox’s defense has forced five turnovers, the most in the first two games since 2002, when the Badgers forced nine turnovers against Fresno State and UNLV. T.J. Edwards picked up a sack in his first game back and Leo Musso recorded his fourth career interception.

Akron’s only touchdown came on JoJo Natson’s 55-yard punt return in the second. The score off a punt return was the first for Akron since 2004.

“We had a plan and it would have taken a few other things for us being able to do”, Akron coach Terry Bowden said. 5 LSU at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. “Having coached at Auburn, you have to be a physical team to whip LSU”.

Aside from Natson’s 44-yard receiving effort that led to Akron’s only touchdown, another bright spot in the game for the Zips (1-1) was sophomore kicker Tom O’Leary, who booted a 32-yard field goal. Akron’s defense seemingly had no answer as Wisconsin’s offense rolled for 57 rush yards on the first drive alone and ended with a Clement touchdown. Redshirt junior OLB TJ Watt lead the way with three total tackles and one sack.

Chryst said he was pleased with his team’s composure, especially considering the additional buzz created with the win against LSU. “That’s easier said than done to ignore that outside noise”.

Well, if the Wildcats are going to win 10 regular-season games in 2016, they’ll have to win out.
