Clinton Regrets Saying ‘Half’ of Trump Backers ‘Deplorables’

GOP vice presidential candidate Mike Pence said Saturday that Hillary Clinton disrespected millions of hard-working Americans when she described a broad swath of Donald Trump’s supporters as “irredeemable”, arguing that it is more proof the Democrat is unfit to be the 45th president of the United States.

He wrote: “While Hillary said awful things about my supporters, and while many of her supporters will never vote for me, I still respect them all!”

At the same time, Daschle said, “all the things that Trump has done, the numbers should be far more explicitly in her favor, but they’re not”.

In a statement from the campaign later, spokesman Jason Miller called the statement “deplorable”.

The Trump campaign is slamming Hillary Clinton after she referred to some of Donald Trump’s supporters as a “basket of deplorables”, at a glitzy fundraiser in New York City on Friday.

But some Twitter users said they agreed with Clinton, making reference to remarks by Trump that have been called racist, such as when he called some Mexican immigrants drug dealers and rapists. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric.

He added that millions of Americans support the Republican nominee because, “they are sick of corrupt career politicians like Hillary Clinton”.

“Wow, Hillary Clinton was SO INSULTING to my supporters, millions of awesome, hard working people”, Trump tweeted.

I’m sure this is going to followed up on social media with lots of folks “fact checking” Clinton and showing that she’s right. Trump said in a tweet. Clinton supporters found it amusing that Trump supporters were offended by a comment that many would say pales to some of Trump’s more politically incorrect quips. They are just desperate for change … they don’t buy everything he says but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different.

While Clinton is taking heat for her comment, Trump’s brand is controversy.

“This is not conservatism as we have known it… these are racist ideas, race-baiting ideas”, she said in August, name-checking the alt-right as “the paranoid fringe”. “Obviously not everyone supporting Trump is part of the alt right, but alt right leaders are with Trump”.

A Donald Trump supporter upset with the vandals who’ve been stealing his campaign signs has rigged up a shocking surprise for future thieves.

On Saturday, Ms. Clinton’s staff said she attended another fundraiser at the Armonk, New York, home of attorney David Boies. “Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well”. Not providing concrete policy plans is a criticism Clinton often brings up about her opponent.

“‘Basket of deplorables” reminds me of “binders full of women.’ Equally tone deaf statements divorced from reality”, tweeted Lis Smith, Obama’s director of rapid response during his 2012 campaign.

But #BasketOfDeplorables quickly lit up Twitter on Saturday – and the campaign, spurring Clinton’s mea culpa – with both sides weighing in with some clever snark and more than a few epic burns.

Others compared it to Obama’s politically risky “clinging to their guns and their religion” comment from 2008.

Trump’s remark was reminiscent of a comment he made in January, when he said he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” but still not lose any support.
