Seahawks plan ‘demonstration of unity’ before opener

“I have (considered it)”, Baldwin said before Seattle’s practice Wednesday afternoon. The focus is more likely to be on the “Star Spangled Banner”.

Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner hinted the team could join Lane before the Week 1 game in Seattle on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

There have been rumblings all week that the Seahawks planned to support Colin Kaepernick’s protest in some way before their game against the Dolphins on Sunday.

“A$3 nything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual”, Wagner said yesterday. Baldwin told The Seattle Times that the team understands the significance of that date, and said that it makes the gesture all the more important. “But as a person that does see it and does see what’s really going on out here, I definitely could see me doing something about it as well”.

Doug Baldwin tweeted that the Seahawks will hold a “pregame demonstration of unity” on Sunday. Whether everyone is on board or not, Wagner said he’ll chalk it up to the fact that “we’re all human beings” who may not agree sometimes.

A number of players around the league – including players at press conferences in Seattle – have been asked what they think of Kaepernick’s decision, and whether they also plan to sit.

The demonstration comes as several athletes have followed the lead of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who first sat, then later kneeled during the anthem before preseason games. But by doing this, the Seahawks eliminate the controversy of not standing during the anthem, while continuing the conversation that Kaepernick has started. “The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals”.

The Seahawks play host to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, 15 years after the September 11 terror attacks.

I am. I overestimated people’s ability to overcome their emotional response and think logically. “What the team will do is a powerful sign of unification (plus) respect for the Anthem (plus) those that fight for our Freedom!”

Baldwin, who led the National Football League with 14 receiving touchdowns last season, took to Twitter last week to represent his thoughts on Kaepernick’s protest. “So we’ll see”, he told the Times.

Now we know what that show of unity will be.
