Charleston Southern coach: No ‘pity party’ for suspensions
The Rebels return home Saturday afternoon (Sept. 10) for their first game in the renovated and expanded Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

One player, offensive lineman Frank Cirone, said that the entire starting offensive line had been suspended for the game against the Seminoles and possibly even more going forward. He also noted bookstore employees encouraged him and other players to use all of their leftover money so it didn’t go to waste.
WCIV reported that Charleston Southern will be missing 14 to 15 players on Saturday. All day, CSU proved unable to maintain methodical drives, relying heavily on big plays to spark the offense.
The Florida State Seminoles came out in their Week 1 opener looking a bit shell shocked in the beginning but bounced back.
As mentioned above, however, chunk plays worked on occasion for the Bucs.
It sounds like it could be a lonely bench for Charleston Southern in Tallahassee on Saturday.
With only four full days between games and two practices, half of the normally allotted four in a game week, Francois impressed while dealing with a minor knee injury sustained against Ole Miss.
The exact number of players suspended, according to the report, is undetermined.
The Seminoles’ defense was paced by backup linebacker Brian Burns with five tackles and two sacks, and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi added a sack of his own.
Charleston Southern has a conference game against Monmouth next week. Ultimately, the goal for FSU in this one will be to put it away as soon as possible and be a healthy team to start ACC play. Charleston Southern travels on the road in the hope of pulling off what would be the biggest upset win of the year today. Brian Burns, a true freshman defensive end out of American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, made the most of his reps off the bench. “Hopefully, we got out here healthy, we represented ourselves well and we get our check (from Florida State) on the way out”.
Fourteen Charleston Southern University football players have been suspended for Saturday when the No. 7-ranked FCS team plays at FBS No. 3 ranked Florida State.
This seems like it might have been an honest mistake, and the players may not be entirely to blame here.
“That was wonderful”, Fisher said. Charleston Southern’s first two quarterbacks were injured last week against Kentucky State. Safety Derwin James sent a Charleston player out of bounds with a hit with Florida State leading 42-6 in the third quarter. “I knew they’d compete and fight and they did that the whole game”.
If James is unable to play in next week’s matchup against Louisville, FSU’s already tough task of controlling UL’s dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson gets significantly more hard.

The Buccaneers don’t have much of a passing game, not unlike other option teams.
