Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall knelt during the USA national anthem ahead of the NFL’s season opener yesterday in the latest player protest against racial injustice and police brutality.

The NFL season opener between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers started with controversy. The Broncos are scheduled to host the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game Sunday in Denver.

On Friday, in a statement on Facebook, Strebe said: “Although we have enjoyed Brandon Marshall as our spokesperson over the past five months, Air Academy Federal Credit Union (AAFCU) has ended our partnership”.

Marshall’s protest came before the first National Football League game of the 2016 season, a rematch of the Super Bowl from a season ago, won by the Broncos.

But Marshall’s decision to kneel during the National Anthem will cost him money. Marshall added that he expected a pushback and understands some of the people around him and fans aren’t going to agree with the decision he made.

“Absolutely they were worth the consequences”. “I’m ready for that”. I definitely see what he’s saying. He is also active in the community and has expressed support for Kaepernick’s stance against police brutality and social injustice. “If I lose an Under Armour endorsement – that’s the only endorsement I have – I wouldn’t be anxious about it because to me, in my heart, I’m doing something that’s in benefit of a lot of people”.

Kaepernick did not stand for the national anthem all preseason and his protest became public after he sat before a home game against Green Bay on August 26. “I honestly feel like this will spark some conversation and hopefully some change”. I support our players when they want to see change in society, and we don’t live in a flawless society.

Marshall said he’s not sure how long he’ll continue to kneel for the national anthem. Marshall is the fourth known player to take a knee or sit during the anthem, joining Kaepernick, 49ers safety Eric Reid and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane.

“Whatever we decide to do will be a surprise”, Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner said. We’re educated individuals who went to college.
