A 30-year-old woman is in critical condition after being run over in a hit and run accident early Saturday morning in downtown Ferndale, according to police.
“Majority managed to jump out of the way, (but) this woman was not that fortunate”, said Ferndale police Detective Lt. Bill Wilson of the incident, which occurred at 2:15 a.m., south of Nine Mile Road. It may have damage to the front end and a broken red tail lense.
The light was green at the intersection, but there was a large group of people traveling westbound in the crosswalk as the suspect vehicle was approaching.
A Ferndale police vehicle’s dashboard camera captures this image of the auto suspected in a hit-and-run crash just south of where the crash occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. September 10.
The woman suffered serious head injuries, he said.
The suspect vehicle is the one driving by on the left side of the vehicle, police said.
Police believe the car’s model year looks to be in the early 2000s. “We are hoping more witnesses come forward”, Lt. Wilson says.
The 30 year old woman is now listed in critical condition at the hospital with head injuries.
