Real Madrid sign Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan
The 21-year-old Croatian has signed a six-year contract with the Los Merengues expected to keep him at the club until August 2021.

Kovacic made 35 Serie A appearances last season, scoring five goals and has been capped by his country on 21 occasions.
If Inter gives up Kovacic, they might be intested in the Reds’ Lucas Leiva, who has also been linked with Inter this transfer window.
Kovacic is a good signing for the club, who can be Luka Modirc’s successor at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Nerazzurri were hoping to build their new squad around his incredible talents, but financial fair play sanctions forced their hand, as reported by Sky Sports. I don’t think anyone wanted this to happen but we have the financial fair play regulations to follow.
That’s not to say we’re not going to have a competitive team and one that’s capable of fighting for every title. We are all disappointed, from the President to the players, but faced with rules we have to make sacrifices. There are other players like Casemiro, Illarramendi and Isco all pushing for a starting place and Kovacic faces a stiff competition. Mancini saw his side settle for a goalless draw against AEK Athens and despite their recent performances, the Italian manager remains upbeat about the new season.
