TCU 41-38 in 2OT

Kenny Hill, TCU’s new quarterback – or, if we’re sticking with basketball terminology, point guard – posted fabulous statistics against the Jackrabbits.

Every week during the college football season, “Stanford Steve” Coughlin of SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt and Chris Fallica of ESPN Stats & Information and College GameDay give their free picks for one of the week’s biggest games.

Based on the Razorbacks’ play last week, I’m not sure if Arkansas is up to the challenge of defeating TCU at Forth Worth just yet.

A road victory over a top-25 team would likely catapult the Hogs into the top 25 next week and would be a confidence boost for the Razorbacks. And finally, they walked off with their fifth win over a ranked opponent as an unranked team since 2014. The senior plays opposite fellow end Josh Carraway, who had nine sacks last season, to give the Horned Frogs a rush tandem that should test exactly how far Arkansas’ offensive line has come in one week.

“Our guys have been scarred”.

On the two-point conversion, Arkansas completed the flawless reverse with Hatcher throwing the pass to Allen in the end zone, sending the game into overtime.

The Horned Frogs (1-1) rallied from 13 down in the fourth quarter to take a 28-20 lead. Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992 and the SWC dissolved after the 1995-’96 school year.

“Big fan of Gary Patterson”. “They’re going to be upset when they watch the film”.

Allen threw three touchdowns passes, including a 19-yarder to Jeremy Sprinkle to start overtime.

“We wanted to keep you in your seats for four quarters and some”, Bielema said with a smile as he greeted reporters. Patterson is known is one of the nation’s best defensive minds and almost guided this program to a College Football Playoff berth in 2014.

TCU was able to score on its possession, but wasn’t able to find the end zone, despite getting inside Arkansas’ 20 – they settled for a field goal to take a three-point lead, but then it was Beilema’s turn. “I’ve seen him do it for four years now and whenever we put the diesel unit in, it always feels like we have a really good shot at blocking that field goal”.

Arkansas then punted, and TCU’s KaVonte Tur miraculously was able to return it for 64 yards to the Arkansas 27.

Only a bad snap and missed field goal took all the momentum, at least for most of the fourth quarter, and swung it until it was purple and white and ready to fight.

Arkansas tailback Rawleigh Williams, who rushed 28 times for 137 yards, said the Razorbacks sensed Skipper would send the game into overtime.

The Hogs dominated the playclock, holding onto the ball for 17 minutes and 30 seconds of the first half. The game ended 59-41 in favor of the Horned Frogs.

A heart-stopping, one-point win over a Conference USA team (even a relatively good one that finished 9-4 last year) isn’t exactly encouraging.

Big catches from sophomore Ka’Vontae Turpin led TCU to two key scores in the second half. But just like a week ago after a sluggish start against South Dakota State, he was great in the second half.

Arkansas hosts Texas State next Saturday at 6:30pm.

While the TCU defense has an off day by giving up too many big plays, the Horned Frogs’ offense saved the day by racking up 662 yards at 7.7 yppl. Much like Arkansas, TCU had a problem with jamming up receivers at the line.
