Broncos LB Brandon Marshall loses sponsor over anthem protest
Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall is shrugging off losing an endorsement for his refusal to stand during the national anthem.

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Brandon Marshall (54) kneels during the national anthem before the game Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Air Academy Federal Credit Union, which mostly serves members of the military and their families, announced on social media Friday that it was ending its five-month relationship with Marshall. “We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors”, the company said.
Stay on topic – This helps keep the thread focused on the discussion at hand. “I was like, hmm, they’re going to get on me”. I definitely see what he’s saying.
Marshall was a college teammate of Kaepernick’s, so maybe Marshall is trying to show support for a former teammate and friend, but all in all, this is just getting ridiculous. It seems Marshall is showing support for his fellow National Football League player Colin Kaepernick, who chose to sit during the Star Spangled Banner in protest of social injustice of African-Americans and other minorities. He is also active in the community and has expressed support for Kaepernick’s stance against police brutality and social injustice.
“Absolutely they were worth the consequences”, Marshall said Friday, in reaction to the AAFCU statement.
The protesting athlete lost an endorsement deal Friday with a Denver-based credit union that serves thousands of US military servicemen and women.
The NFL released a statement after Marshall’s protest. I feel good about it. It’s nearly like they want us to only go with the grain. This is our only platform to be heard. “In the eyes of most people, I’ll be hated”, said Marshall, according to Cameron Wolfe of the Denver Post. “I will not lose any sleep”. A lot of people calling me the “N” word and calling me all kind of derogatory terms.

“Honestly, I’m a man of faith”, Marshall said, “so I prayed about it long and hard, and I feel like it was the right thing to do”.
