For the first time, the awards are being handed out over two nights.
Both Amy Poehler and Tina Fey won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series Guest Actress for their gig of co-hosting the Saturday Night Live Christmas episode.
The category’s other nominees are Laurie Metcalf for her recurring role as the mother of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) on “The Big Bang Theory” and Melora Hardin for her recurring role as the wife of Sarah Pfefferman (Amy Landecker) on “Transparent”.
Peter Scolari, nominee as Best Comedy Guest Actor for “Girls”.
But after it was determined that Peter MacNicol was not technically eligible for the nomination that he received for “Veep“, (he appeared in too many episodes to be considered a guest star) Scolari entered the race as he was the next highest vote-getter in the nominations balloting.
Michael Kelly, nominee as Best Drama Supporting Actor for “House of Cards” on next week’s ceremony.
Hank Azaria took Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for “Ray Donovan“, while Margo Martindale took Best Actress in a Drama for “The Americans”.
“House Of Cards” produced three of the nominees for outstanding guest actor in a drama series, Reg E. Cathey, last year’s victor, Mahershala Ali and Paul Sparks.
Diane Warren picked up an Emmy for the powerful anthem “Til It Happens to You” for the documentary “The Hunting Ground“.
The creative arts Emmys precede the main ceremony, which is scheduled to air Sunday, Sept. 18, on ABC.
HBO’s drama also took home awards for best casting for a drama, best production design for contemporary or fantasy, and best costumes for a period/fantasy series.
