Wenger: Wilshere can become Arsenal manager

“The level of training has gone up because he is here but ultimately our players are going to enjoy playing with him”.

Wilshere is a graduate of the Arsenal youth academy, making his first-team debut under Wenger in 2008 as a 16-year-old.

“I want to win games here and as quickly as possible because we want to climb the league”.

“I couldn’t guarantee that, so that’s why [we took] the decision”. He’s in a position where you need games.

“Let’s not forget that he missed past year; you can’t afford to be out two seasons without playing at the top level”.

However, due to a number of injuries sustained over the years, Wilshere has failed to reach the heights many expected him to. He doesn’t have to show me he has the quality to play at Bournemouth, he just needs to be back at a competitive level.

“We had a chat together”, added the Frenchman. We have all been his age and wanted to play football but we didn’t have his talent.

Eddie Howe has brushed off speculation that he could be Arsene Wenger’s long-term successor at Arsenal and insists his focus is exclusively on Bournemouth.

He said: “I think the key thing for Jack is he wants to stay in the Premier League, I think that was important for us [getting the deal]”.

Wenger also offered up his comments on Alexis Sanchez’s claims in an interview earlier this week that he is one of the world’s great players, on par with Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘I see him in the future at this club.

‘He will spend his life in football.

“He has an eye on everybody, it’s in him”.

Many Gunners were unhappy with the departure of Wilshere this summer, but will now be able to get over that with the excitement that he is still a big part of Wenger’s plans, whether it be on the pitch or not.

“That’s a decision I have to make, and I have to see how everyone comes back and who I will start tomorrow. In this case that’s what I have tried to do”, said Wenger.

“Sometimes it’s a shame that he plays so deep”. In this case that’s what I tried to do. If you try to then you come unstuck. But he (Wilshere) is a real Arsenal man as well.

Wilshere left before the transfer deadline on a season-long loan after failing to make the starting line-up in each of Arsenal’s first three Premier League games.

“I am convinced he was hurt by that”.
