Arians says Chris Johnson takes physical with Cardinals
A person with knowledge of the situation says running back Chris Johnson will visit the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday to undergo a physical.

Johnson has averaged less than four yards a carry in a season just once, and last year in limited work with the Jets, he averaged 4.5 yards on only 155 rushing attempts.
The Cardinals are short-handed at the running back position with hamstring injuries to David Johnson and Marion Grice although previous starter Andre Ellington re-joined the team’s 11-on-11 drills. After spending one year as a Jet, Johnson could now be on his way to Arizona.
Asked if the prospective signing of Chris Johnson gave a push to the return of the two backs with hamstring problems, “I don’t think Andre needed one”. It was still said, yeah, both guys [Johnson and Ivory] were going to get playing time.
Johnson has earned over $40 million in his NFL career and is expected to sign a short one term deal in Arizona, according to ESPN.
Coach Bruce Arians has been displeased with the performance of his running backs in training camp. Eventually, Johnson’s contract became too much to justify keeping him, leaving Tennessee to release the former superstar.
He eclipsed 1,000-yards each of the six previous years, with a high of 2,006 yards in 2009.

Johnson has recovered from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The shooting killed the driver and wounded another passenger. Arians said the first team will play the entire first quarter Saturday night against San Diego.
