Chiefs streak into season, Chargers looking for fresh start
The Chargers brought back Ken Whisenhunt after 23 unsuccessful games coaching the Titans, while the Chiefs turned their attack over to Brad Childress and Matt Nagy following Doug Pederson’s departure for Philadelphia. Without him, the Chiefs will turn to Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware and Knile Davis.

Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware combined for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, majority after Charles went down in Week 5. In any case, Charles is not a viable Week 1 fantasy option, while Ware and West both figure see their share of touches Sunday.
Our models assume Charles will play against the San Diego Chargers in Week 1, albeit on a limited basis, projecting him for 8 carries for 39 yards for 0.36 touchdowns, as well as 1 catch for 11 yards through the air.
Most of the time when teams have losing records the year before, their fans are counting them out for the next year too.
Charles has been trying to come back from his second ACL surgery, this time to his right knee.
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming from a 17-7 win over the Green Bay Packers last week. Mostly, it was determined by game situations and which player was most effective in a given game. The pass rushers of the Chargers hope this offensive line is as leaky as last year’s when the front five gave up 45 sacks on the season. West missed the final three games because of an elbow injury. But perhaps most troubling was the play of the Chargers’ porous defense, which they hope to have shored up by signing nose tackle Brandon Mebane and drafting defensive end Joey Bosa third overall.
For San Diego, they will look to go to the air early and often on Sunday.

In addition, they have swept the Chargers the last two seasons, including beating them by a combined score of 43-6 last season. San Diego won 19-3.

With veteran Philip Rivers under center, the Chargers are always a threat to pile up points, tallying 26 or more on six occasions past year.
