Mets have had enough of Bobby Parnell
BALTIMORE (AP) – The New York Mets placed struggling right-hander Bobby Parnell on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with right shoulder tendinitis. His fastball has failed to regain his pre-Tommy John surgery velocity and hitters are sitting on his off-speed pitches.

According to the New York Post, Parnell was given a choice of being optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas or being placed on the disabled list. In 23 appearances this season, Parnell is 1-3 with a 5.59 ERA. Most recently, Parnell allowed four earned runs over 2/3 of an inning in two losses to the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend.
Parnell is an impending free agent making $3.7 million, so unless he makes it back from the DL for some September action this likely signals the end of his time with the Mets after a decade in the organization.

Verrett, who began the season with the Orioles in spring training, had allowed one earned run in six appearances out of the bullpen for the Mets earlier this season, pitching to a 0.73 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.
