Samsung Galaxy Note7 Users Urged to Turn Off Phones

This apparently forced many government-owned aviation agencies, including America’s FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and India’s DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), to put sanctions on carrying the Samsung phablet in aeroplanes.

This follows reports of exploding batteries in the Note7 device. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found an isolated battery cell issue.

We are keeping our eyes on Samsung’s next move and we are eager to find out their new decision regarding the massive withdrawal.

American Airlines announced Friday that it will start broadcasting warnings about the Samsung Galaxy Note7 at the gate, and on board flights.

“Following the worldwide recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 Personal Electronic Device (PED), we are requesting that passengers do not charge them inflight”, the spokesman said. When these batteries overheat and burst, the results can be serious.

In a public apology, it promised to replace 2.5 million units of the premium smartphone sold so far, both in its home market and overseas.

According to DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, Samsung is “expediting replacement devices so that they can be provided through the exchange program as conveniently as possible and in compliance with related regulations”. This includes the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Note7 models.
