Player arrested in assault on ref during Ventura College football game

A insane person playing junior college football was arrested Saturday night in California after punching a referee in a game between Mt. San Antonio College and Ventura College.

Schirmer was immediately ejected from the game without hesitation.

Mount San Antonio offensive linesman Bernard Schirmer was booted from the game after a brazen display of unsportsmans-like conduct brought the game against Ventura College to a halt.

Game footage shows the ref get flattened by a punch after preventing Schirmer from confronting defensive players between plays.

Mt. SAC head coach, Steve Mooshagian said that he approached the referee as he walked off the field to check to see if he was okay and said that the official “looked a little drowsy”.

He was replaced and did not return to the game, which home team Ventura later won 34-29. According to reports, while the game was concluding, Ventura College police came up to the press box to review the incident.

California Community College Athletic Association bylaws say striking an official is punishable by a five-year ban, according to the newspaper.
