Cam Newton’s latest encounter with the Broncos must’ve felt like another trip to the dentist. At least he won’t have to seethe for seven months.

The NFL will review how the Panthers’ medical team handled a hit to Cam Newton’s head during Carolina’s loss to the Denver Broncos in the season opener. Newton’s father Cecil was also not only irate with the referees, he was “grossly disturbed” by some of the Broncos’ defensive players, and the NFL. “Every time he ran we tried to put helmet and shoulder pads on him”. “And sometimes we cross them but that’s part of the game”.
Three of the hits were of the helmet-to-helmet variety but none resulted in any penalty yardage.
The biggest hit on Newton was delivered by safety Darian Stewart on Carolina’s final possession, leaving the QB motionless on the ground for several seconds.
